Clovers report! & My Fair Lady & GMAT puzzles!

Filed under: Culture, Improvement, Updates — elyseeteo @ 7:13 am

Ok people!

I’ve got good news and bad news. Which one do you want to hear first??=)

Well, I don’t know for you. For me, its definitely the bad news first. You know the bitterness first, then the sweet stuff concept. Ha.

Bad news is….

Flora is kinda dead…='(

AND so is minnie too..

For Minnie, I think she is long gone. But for Flora. I think she died due to the lack of water over the New year and Hari Raya holiday period. 😥

Yup, can see the little grown out parts dried up.

Thats all for the bad news!

Now the good news!

Minnie 2.

Look how tall she has grown! this is a 2 week old Minnie 2. Instructions has it that I am supposed to migrate her to a bigger pot after she hits 5 cm. Which she did!

So today I’ve just migrated her. I hope it went well! cos it is not easy migrating.

Sighs. these 4-leaved clovers are so delicate!!! (think the 2 deceased ones)

Look at the beautiful clovers forming!!

I really hope it don’t die after migration!

Oh. so we watched my Fair Lady on Sunday.

The good english-british slang is kinda beyond comprehension!!

But the bad english-british slang is baddd badd badd!!! We almost couldn’t understand a thing!

There are 3 nice songs, in my opinion. But according to sissy, there are none. ha. She’s even stricter than me!

But we both agreed that the musical is really not good enough. Namely, there are too many talking scenes, making it more like a drama than a musical. Its really a musical for goodness’ sake! We got bored when the actors/actresses are plainly talking.

Stage setup+costumes is .. ok: 4/10
Chereography…: 7/10
Music: 5/10 (awfully lacking of songs! but I gave it 5, because of the live orchestra, and I liked the vocal ensemble of some songs!)
Vocals: 7/10
Storyline: 4/10

Songs to listen are: Wouldn’t it be lovelier, Just a lil’ bit of luck, I could have danced all night.

Yup. Good that we did not buy too expensive seats. We upgraded our seats on our own:P

Out with Jiajin yesterday! He concluded that I had gastric flu. *nods* I think I want to agree. But the doctor did not say so.

Oh well. I don’t care now. But I still experienced stomach pain today.

Was talking about GMAT. I was telling him, I am not good enough. yet. It is not really like SAT where Singaporeans are expected to Ace the maths part. Or maybe I am just not good enough!

Here are some GMAT Quantitive questions as requested! Allow 2 minutes max per question. Remember timing is very important!

First, the answer choices are as below:
A. Statement (1) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (2) alone is not sufficient.
B. Statement (2) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (1) alone is not sufficient.
C. BOTH statements TOGETHER are sufficient, but NEITHER statement ALONE is sufficient.
D. EACH statement ALONE is sufficient.
E. Statements (1) and (2) TOGETHER are NOT sufficient.

Question 1:
If (x+y)/z > 0, is x<0?

(1) x is smaller than y
(2) z is smaller than 0

Question 2:
In a certain classroom, there are 80 books, of which 24 are fiction and 23 are written in Spanish. How many of the fiction books are written in Spanish?

(1) Of the fiction books, there are 6 more that are not written in Spanish than are written in Spanish.
(2) Of the books written in Spanish, there are 5 more nonfiction books than fiction books.

Question 3:
Last year the average salary of the 10 employees of Company X was $42,800. What is the average salary of the same 10 employees this year?

(1) For 8 of the 10 employees, this year’s salary is 15% greater than last year’s salary.
(2) For 2 of the 10 employees, this year’s salary is the same as last year’s salary.

Have fun! and post ur answers if you wish;) (ESP u JJ)

Progress check + Bimbotism

Filed under: Bimbotism, Improvement — elyseeteo @ 4:10 am

Almost lunching!

There are soo soo many things I want to blog.

Images of my lovely kids are flashing through my brain constantly.

One thing I wanted to share since last week was:

My GMAT progress. Haven’t studied the Princeton books yet.

BUT I took the mock test again! (I practised some maths questions)

And woohoo… This time round, I am above the 90% percentile!

Happy. HAPPY!!!!!

My verbal dropped a little because I had to attend to some other things while doing my test. (or so I hope!) so I did not manage to finish, unfortunately.

But still! I improved!

I still have lotsa studying to do though!=)

Was reading my sister’s blog. It’s a quote from MP Mr Chiam See Tong :

” I have not received an invitation for the Prime Minister Rlaly during my six terms as an MP. Why is there a snub? to fulfil President S R Nathan’s vision of an inclusive society… Opposition MPs should ve treated in equal status as PAP MPs.”

Why the snub. Another question will be, why the parading of PAP’s flag during NDP, not the other parties’ flags?

Oh well. Let’s go bimbotic.

Last week was when everyone was wearing green! everyone= Me, chenwei, Chloe and the gal from the office next door.=P

Yeah yeah. but what’s wrong with being bimbotic? =P

HAHAHA. So guys, PS3 or Wii??=P

Kenneth did fortune telling for me at the end of the kids’ camp. Has been pondering on it eversince…

Oh. one thing that he did say was. It is not wise to be with men who I got to know this year. 😉 HA. True? … quite true, I think..

ha. well.

Do u all believe in fortune telling? using ba1ji4

Kids stuff

Filed under: Improvement — elyseeteo @ 8:16 am

Will be mega busy from now on to next week!

On top of my gmat, penny and my vm.

I have…. *drums roll* kids camp coaching this weekend til next week!

5 days in a roll! 16 hours each. Woah. Gonna be quite crazy.

I am fearing for myself already.. how am I going to beat bouncing + jumpy kids in terms of energy level?!?!?

Ha. oh well. A challenge is a challenge.

Got to familiarize with all the stuff that we are teaching them. ( don’t tell yy, but I am rusty already! need revision.)

Hmm.. these are some things that I want to keep in mind, and perhaps if you are/will be handling kids in the future. this is what I think. (of course there are lotsa lotsa experienced coaches/a. coaches reading here)=)

First step: be their fiend….. erhmm.. *cough* I mean FRIEND.

No. Not what most of us will seem like. i.e. *adults*

Adults is the new 4-lettered word in the kids’ dictionary.

which is actually equivalent in their little heads to teachers or parents.

i.e. NOT friend material.

yesyes. kids are so mafan. wahahhaaa.. *JOKE JOKE*

I LUUUURRRRVVEEEE kids… *rubs hands evil-ly*

*slurps*…. ha.

ok, enough of crap.

now next, find out what makes them tick. what’s hot in the kiddy world.

yesyes, maple story. WHICH I don’t play. I am not a fan of computer games, I admit. oh well, except for neopets. ha.

A quick way is to check out the TV programs they have on kids central!

9:00 AM Ribert & Robert’s Wonderworld – Ribert Wants To Know About: Being Afraid Of The Dark
9:30 AM Barney & Friends Sr 800 – A World Of Friends
10:00 AM Chalkzone
10:30 AM Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III – Bishop’s Gambit
11:00 AM Adv Of The Gummi Bears V – Princess Problems / A Gummi Is A Gummi’s Best Friend
11:30 AM Cows & Crayons II – The Bovine Sense
12:00 PM Winx Club – The Monster And The Willow
12:30 PM Sesame Street Season 36 – Elmo And Zoe Claim A Ball
1:30 PM The Mole Sisters
2:00 PM Little Robots
2:30 PM Max & Ruby
3:00 PM Courage The Cowardly Dog
3:30 PM Mystery Hunters – Ice Mummies / Cryonics
4:00 PM My Little Pony
4:30 PM Bob The Builder Sr 12 – Sumsy And The Beast / Listen With Scrambler
5:00 PM Hi-5 Sr 8 – Family / Groups
5:30 PM Pokemon Sr 7 – Goin’ For A Spinda!

Have to analyze this crap, for example. since my kids are 7-13 yrs old, Barney is probably out and UNcool (eliminating Barney is a piece of cake!).

Detailed analysis next time =)

Have a good weekend:)

Filed under: Improvement — elyseeteo @ 5:29 am

No time to post up all the pictures taken yesterday:)

But I had a great time with the ladies!

Just bought another book for my GMAT.

Although I have the same score for quantitive and verbal. (shocking, but true!)

But at least I know why I am wrong for the quantitive part.

But for verbal… I am clueless why I was wrong. I especially need to improve my reading comprehension!

OK, enough of these boring stuff.

Kids coaching preparation this weekend!=)

I have been experiencing quite a number of headaches.

Bad nights with lots and lots of dreams. Some are nightmares, some are strange strange dreams. None that will make me wake up with a smile.

Unhappy about some things. I am not quite sure how to express myself.

And also about GMAT.

So I know my dear Cornell takes in candidates with an average of 670. And I know, to have a good chance of getting in, I need a gmat of more than 720.

My grades are still far from that mark.

Hmm.. although the 2nd time I did the sample test, I had significantly less incorrect answers for quantitive. But I still got a lower grade. THEN I read, timing is taken into account.

So boo! this is where I went wrong. I took my own sweet time, as I did not want to have one last question left, AND with lots of time on my hands. (we cant go back to check)

I know I am way past the 75% of the GMAT-ers. (ha, invented this word.) But I am not yet in the 80 percentile range.

Quite sad about it. Will make sure I perform as fast I can the next time, instead of taking my own sweet time.='(

My aim is past the 99% mark.

This is just to remind myself the strategies that I need to employ.

Speed is the key.

I planned earlier to:
1 week to go thru NPLH questions. Strenghten the weak topics.
1 week to go thru my CAT qns.
2 week for princeton review. Think I need more time for the princeton guide.
Test self.
1 week for e official guide.
